Raj Thackeray claims Modi government in talks with Dawood for settlement

He assailed that the Central government would try to derive political mileage for the 2019 parliamentary elections for bringing back Dawood

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray created a sensation when he said that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was in talks with the Central government to return to India. He assailed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government would try to derive political mileage for the 2019 parliamentary elections for bringing back Dawood, who is the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case.

“It is Dawood who wants to come back. Dawood is ailing and wants to spend his last days here. He is doing some settlement with the government. Now this government will claim that they were responsible for bringing back the bomb blast accused and try to win the next elections on this plank,” said Thackeray. “They will portray that what the previous government could not do, they have achieved. But the fact is, Dawood himself wants to come back again,” he added.

Dawood is designated as a global terrorist and is believed to be hiding in Karachi from where he runs a global crime syndicate. For years, there has been news that he has been yearning to return to India.

With reference to his facebook page, Thackeray said he would hold Facebook Live once a month, and called it a medium of interaction with them. “I will be drawing caricatures as well as give directions through Facebook,” he added. However, he exhorted his workers not to tolerate any nonsense on his page.
