Four police teams will fan out across the city to trace the burqa-clad woman who allegedly kidnapped a baby from VN Desai Hospital in Santacruz on Friday. SN Choudhary, deputy commissioner of police (zone VIII), has formed the teams to trace the woman who allegedly kidnapped 25-year-old Pooja Mishra’s two-month-old son, Ayush.

Footage, recorded by the hospital’s closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras three to four days before the incident, shows a woman wearing a veil walking around the hospital.
The police are not sure whether this is the woman who took Ayush away but they claim she was seen visiting several wards. “We suspect the woman was not alone and had a group with her. It appears that she was waiting for the right opportunity, which she got on Friday,” said Sanjay Patil, police inspector.
The police had on Saturday confirmed that the woman, who allegedly kidnapped the baby, had a long-haired male accomplice. The CCTV grabs of the burqa-clad woman and her accomplice are too blurred to provide the police with any leads, Patil said.
