A group of activists have found a unique way to make their displeasure known. They sent phonograms to the chief minister and the Opposition leader, protesting the selection of the state chief information commissioner (SCIC).

Activists have been protesting against the lack of transparency in the appointment process of the SCIC.

Wanting to lodge their protests before Wednesday’s meeting, the activists turned to phonograms.

“We knew that the message would reach the chief minister and the opposition leader,” said GR Vora, one of the activists who sent the phonograms.

Phonograms enable the customers to book telegrams over the phone. Activist Krishnaraj Rao said the biggest advantage of a phonogram was that the process hardly takes 10 minutes. “Such technology is very useful in a city like ours, because a lot of us have the inclination to register our protests, but not the time,” he said.

These activists believe that phonograms are an effective method of protesting.

Meanwhile, a few activists also met Anna Hazare at Ralegan Siddhi to enlist his support. Rao has announced a fast-unto-death to protest against the unlawful selection. He said: “The government needs to advertise and seek applications from candidates for the post.”
