From trips to Shanghai and Disneyland in Hong Kong to sports camps in England and Spain, parents can choose from a range of activities, which include sightseeing, adventure sports and cultural expeditions.

Mumbai resident Sidh Surana, 9, who is leaving for Spain to train in his favourite sport - football - has been to a similar camp once before. "Last year, I learned a lot of techniques from the coaches there. I made many friends and also got to see a new country," said Surana.

Last summer, Prithvi Shetty, 15, traipsed about Thailand with a group of excited pre-teens. "We tried weird food such as grasshoppers and cockroaches, but the camp was amazing," said Shetty.

"The camps are very popular. Children are trained by qualified trainers and they have the experience of a lifetime," said Anjali Shah, director of Premier India Football League, which organises international camps.
