Fake result dates, portals trouble SSC candidates

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam results were announced on May 27 this year, a few days earlier than last year’s date of release. Ever since then, almost every day has seen a new date for SSC results being circulated on social media, students said.

Adding to the chaos, screenshots of a website designed to look like the official state board site were doing the rounds on Whatsapp recently. These images suggested that the results would be announced on June 3, but the board has confirmed that the images were fake.

“The messages doing the rounds contained fake images of the board website,” said Laxmikant Pande, divisional chairperson of the state board, Mumbai division. “We have not yet announced any date for the results.”

“Students are so dependent on social media that they have become extremely gullible and believe anything that is circulated there,” said Anjana Prakash, pricipal, Hansraj Morarji Public School, Andheri.

Parents said that the board should announce result dates at the earliest to avoid such confusion. “Why can’t the board fix a date at the beginning of the year itself, along with the timetable?” asked Shruti Rathod, a parent from Andheri.
