Firstly, they will check the CCTV camera network in the locality. Secondly, they plan to check the mobile phone tower locations of possible suspects who could have been at the wheel.

Additional commissioner of police (west region) Vishwas Nangre-Patil told HT: “We have asked for the footage from the CCTV camera network located near the accident spot, in order to get a closer look at who was driving the car, and how the accident took place.” He added: “We will also check the mobile tower locations of those we suspect could possibly have been at the wheel.”

He confessed there is a possibility that the spot where the accident took place and the location of some others who could possibly be at the wheel may fall under the same mobile tower. If that is the case, it will not help the police determine whether any of them was at the wheel. “It will however help us to corroborate the locations of some others not located close to the accident spot,” he said.
