Maharashtra home minister RR Patil on Thursday presented a reward of Rs10 lakh to the 55-member team of Mumbai police which cracked the journalist Jyotirmoy Dey murder case by arresting seven people.

“For 15 days after Dey's murder, a lot of criticism was heaped on the police force. There was pressure on the police which made all efforts to crack the case,” Patil said.
“The government put faith in the Mumbai Crime Branch and it did not let us down. We congratulate the police and senior officers involved in the investigation,” the minister said.
