In a relief to the Mumbai suburban commuters, majority of the Central Railway services were running regularly on Saturday after the mayhem on Friday when irked commuters went on a rampage.
After the intervention by the Union railways minister Suresh Prabhu, the CR staff repaired all the 10 suburban trains overnight, which were damaged by the angry commuters at Diva on Friday.
This was possible because of eight hours of continuous efforts by 300 staffers under the supervision of the officials.
The first local was rolled out in service at 4am on Saturday morning and the rest followed before 7.30am.
As a result, more of the train services were running on schedule, though there were minor delays during the office peak hours.
Initially, CR officials had predicted disruption and cancellation of about 100-16- suburban services for the next couple of days after assessing the trains' damages.
According to top railway sources, initially CR had planned to complete the repairing work of the damaged trains before Monday, but planning changed drastically after directives from the Union railway minister and CM Devendra Fadnavis, who directed the railways to fix the trains before Saturday morning.
On Friday, enraged commuters went on a rampage over the continuing delay in the suburban train services at Diva and Dombivali railway stations, bringing the city's lifeline to a complete halt for more than four hours. Railway property, including 10 suburban trains, was damaged by miscreants.

{{/usCountry}}According to CR, 13 look-out glasses, 31 pressure gauges, nine blinkers, 14 head lights, nine speedo meters, 21 switch panels, 265 window glasses were damaged among other parts.
CR had to take the help of Western Railway for arranging some of these unavailable parts.
Meanwhile, railway authorities have appealed to the suburban commuters not to manhandle motormen, guards, station masters or other station staffers in times of disruptions, which are of technical nature. "In fact they work round the clock to provide suburban services at all times," stated the CR release.
