The Congress-NCP government will not get a pat on its back for its performance. In a pre-poll survey conducted by the Hindustan Times in Mumbai’s 36 assembly constituencies, people have rated the state government’s overall performance as average — on a scale of 10, it scored 5.2, reports Shailesh Gaikwad.

In a pre-poll survey conducted by the Hindustan Times in Mumbai’s 36 assembly constituencies, people have rated the state government’s overall performance as average — on a scale of 10, it scored 5.2.

Though people voted for the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls, respondents believe in Maharashtra the Democratic Front should have done more.

“People are dissatisfied,” said Uday Nirgudkar, psephologist and political analyst. “If the rating is half or less, it shows that expectations are not met.”

With sugar prices touching Rs 40/kg and tur dal Rs 100/kg, people are not impressed with the efforts made to control prices, giving it 4 out of 10.

The government’s ability to supply power and its efforts at building infrastructure got average ratings, while its attempts to keep Mumbai safe got just 4.1.

Voters are not impressed with the Shiv Sena-BJP Opposition either. Respondents rated the Opposition at 4.9 on 10 when asked how well it has done as a watchdog.
