NCP failed to grow in Vidarbha, says Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had failed to develop in Vidarbha region unlike in other parts of the state.

"The NCP has failed to develop in the region unlike in other parts of Maharashtra till date, but is optimistic that it would soon emerge as a strong party in near future," Pawar admitted.

He also ruled out any misunderstanding with chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, but stressed that government should maintain transparency with no scope for any lapse in administration.

He said efforts were being taken to make Chandrapur district free from power cuts, as it bears the pollution caused due to the biggest thermal power station with 2340 MW generation capacity.

The norms of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission are the hurdles in exempting the Naxal infested Gadchiroli district from power cuts, said Pawar, who also holds the portfolios of power and finance.
