Television actor Pratyusha Banerjee, 24, was under the influence of alcohol when she committed suicide on April 1, according to the forensic chemical analysis report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Kalina. The report was received by the Bangur Nagar police on Friday.
“The ethyl alcohol content is 140 mg,” said a forensic expert who is part of the investigation.
According to the expert, “There have been innumerable cases of people committing suicide after consuming liquor.”
Pratyusha, known for her role in popular TV series Balika Vadhu, committed suicide at her rented residence in Goregaon. Her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh has been booked for abetting her suicide.
It is also learnt that Pratyusha was in debt and used to drink often. The police found three cans of beer and other liquor bottles at her residence.
The police’s investigation revealed that a day before the actor committed suicide, Rahul and Pratyusha had organised a party, which was attended by some friends.
The day Pratyusha committed suicide, Rahul had yelled at her for consuming alcohol in the afternoon, said a police source.
