Raj wants Twitter to delete his fake accounts

Two days after social networking site Twitter agreed to block six fake accounts misrepresenting PM Manmohan Singh following complaints from his office, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday decided that he wants the fake accounts misrepresenting him on Twitter and Facebook to go off cyberspace, HT reports.

Two days after social networking site Twitter agreed to block six fake accounts misrepresenting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh following complaints from his office, Mahararashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday decided that he wants the fake accounts misrepresenting him on Twitter and Facebook to go off cyberspace.

What provoked this reaction were reports claiming that Thackeray was the first to tweet about the death of former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh two weeks back. “I do not tweet as I don’t even have an account,” said Thackeray.

The IT wing of MNS has sent a message asking the owners to discontinue these accounts immediately.

“In many cases, these people are fans of Raj Thackeray and propagate his views. We have reasoned with them that it is not right to falsely represent someone and they should close the account with immediate effect,” said MNS general secretary Anil Shidore.

He added that Thackeray does not want to register a complaint with the cyber cell yet.

“We do not want to be harsh on them as none have done any mischief or posted any objectionable matter,” he said.
