Sibling deaths: Cops on hunt for man who carried out pest control

Investigators are on the lookout for a fourth accused, who may have played a role in the mysterious deaths of Versova siblings Rameez and Rehab Chougule. Police said that the accused, identified as Salim, is a Bandra resident and had allegedly carried out pest control at the Choughule residence.

Investigators are on the lookout for a fourth accused, who may have played a role in the mysterious deaths of Versova siblings Rameez and Rehab Chougule. Police said that the accused, identified as Salim, is a Bandra resident and had allegedly carried out pest control at the Choughule residence.

Police said he was employed by Rukshar Almekar, the pest-control contractor. Almekar had been arrested in July in connection with the siblings’ death.

Almekar, in her statement to the police, said that Salim had carried out pest control at the siblings’ residence. The police said that Almekar had asked Salim to use the aluminium phosphide tablets for pest control at the flat. Small traces of the chemical had been found in Rehab’s stomach and lungs.

“Almekar said that she does not have Salim’s contact details. We are trying to find information about him and are on the lookout for him,” said Pratap Dighavkar, zonal deputy commissioner of police.

Including Almekar, three people have been arrested so far in the case. The police said that all accused have been arrested under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
