Kailash Kher is performing tonight in Qutab Minar complex and we caught up with the singer for a tete-a-tete just before his performance. Here's what he had to say.

Kailash feels this performance is very special as it is part of the Commonwealth Games which have swept the nation in a festive mood.

"Humaari country bahut hi alag se naye avatar mein dikh rahi hai (Our country can now be seen in a whole new avatar),." he said.

His latest song is called Yaaro jashn manaao.

Kailash Kher

Kher may possibly be performing during the closing ceremony of the Games as well, although he refused to comment on it.

His first ever jingle
After going into debts due to his losses in business, Kher went into depression till finally coaxed by his siblings. He sang his first jingle which was for Hero cycles. We all remember the famous rhythm Kaisa hi bhi ho jahaan, ab udna hai aasaan, chhoona hai aasmaan, ab udna hai aasmaan. But the singer had no clue that that would be his 'calling' and that his life would take a complete twist thereafter.

From Allah Ke Bande to Allah Ke Banday
The singer kick started his career with the famous song Allah Ke Bande in Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II which was what really shot him to fame.

"Vishal Dadlani told me to sing the song and gave me full freedom to do variations in it."

Well, obviously there has been no looking back eversince. Over 500 jingles, three albums and many film songs later, this Allah Ka Banda is still raring to go. In fact, he has the lead tracks for Sharman Joshi's upcoming film Allah Ke Banday, due to release on October 22.
