NEW DELHI: The Congress came down heavily on the Haryana government on Wednesday, saying the constitution of the Dhingra commission was “nothing but a mere cog in the wheel of malicious witch-hunt propagated and perpetuated by the BJP for years together with complete and utter disregard” for truth and facts.
In its initial response on the submission of the report by the justice SN Dhingra commission of inquiry, the Congress also alleged that the BJP, including its governments at the Centre and state, has run a political agenda of “vendetta and revenge” for years together, purely with a view to “vilify and slander”.
However, the party said it will give a detailed response once the report is made public.
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said portions of the report were leaked to the press and aired on most TV channels. “This reflects the mal intent and a sinister conspiracy of Haryana government, BJP’s top leadership and commission itself. It proves that the sole intent is to defame, conspire and malign, rather than adjudge the issues fairly.”
He said the circumstances and facts suggested that the commission was unable to appreciate this “conspiracy of name calling and maligning” without an iota of evidence. “Naked prejudice in the very constitution of Dhingra commission is apparent from one fact – various state governments have licensed 33,697.57 acres of land in Haryana.”

{{/usCountry}}“Of this, the commission was asked to inquire into only 16 cases of commercial licences, totalling a mere 63.40 acres in Sector-83, Gurgaon, only because it included a licence measuring 2.7 acres owned by Skylight Hospitality Private Limited of Robert Vadra,” Surjewala said. “There is not even a whisper of favour, preferential treatment or violation of any rule, regulation in the grant of licence for a small piece of 2.7 acres of land to Skylight Hospitality Private Limited of Robert Vadra in village Shikohpur, Sector-83, Gurgaon.”
The Congress leader said, “Even the licence for the 2.7 acres of Skylight has not been renewed. Final permission for transfer of licence from Skylight to DLF has not been granted till date. Neither has the licence been renewed nor the permission for transfer granted by the government, where is the question of any undue favour?”
Vadra’s counsel Suman Khaitan later said, “We were always ready to cooperate but Dhingra panel never summoned Vadra or any other official of his company.”
