Auto driver killed, passenger injured after being hit by car in Ghaziabad’s Vasundhara

According to officials, Sonu Sharma was driving the rented-auto around 9pm and was on his way to Ghaziabad when a speeding Wagon-R bearing a Delhi registration number hit the auto. The auto overturned multiple times and suffered severe damage as a result of the impact.

According to officials, Sonu Sharma was driving the rented-auto around 9pm and was on his way to Ghaziabad when a speeding Wagon-R bearing a Delhi registration number hit the auto. The auto overturned multiple times and suffered severe damage as a result of the impact.

“The driver suffered a critical injury as his throat was hit by a piece of iron bar. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The other passenger escaped with few injuries. The family of the auto driver gave us a complaint and we have registered an FIR at Indirapuram police station,” said Aparna Gautam, assistant superintendent of police (Indirapuram).

“The driver of the car involved in accident fled the spot. We have seized the car and also the damaged auto. A police team is on the lookout for the car driver,” she added.

Sharma was a resident of Khoda colony and is survived by his wife, a11-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter.“He had told us that he will return soon after dropping passengers. Later we found out about the incident and rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead,” said Amit Sharma, Sonu’s brother.
