Three police personnel, including a sub inspector, and the driver of a PCR van had a narrow escape when their vehicle was hit by a speeding Maruti Eeco van on GT Road near Dadri. As a result of the impact, the PCR van fell into a ditch and caught fire.

According to police, the incident took place around midnight on May 30 near Chithera while the PCR was on patrolling duty. The speeding Eeco van, which rammed into the PCR van, was coming from Bulandshahr and heading towards Dadri. The driver of the Eeco van was stated to be under the influence of alcohol.

“The vehicle got completely burnt due to the fire and a rifle also got burnt during the incident. We rushed all the injured, including the Eeco car driver, to the hospital for treatment. The car driver also suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment. He seems to be under influence of alcohol and his medical examination will be done. A case will be registered soon,” he said.

According to police, the driver was speeding the car and he could not spot the patrolling PCR van. As the vehicle started to catch fire, the personnel could not take out the rifle. The PCR was provided by the Noida authority and it was completely gutted, officials added.
