Infant kidnapped in Greater Noida, parents blame neighbour

Prem, son of Brajesh Yadav and Premlata, has been missing since 10am on Saturday. The boy’s parents alleged that the infant was last seen with a neighbour.

An eight-month infant was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday morning from Surajpur in Greater Noida and even after 24 hours of the incident, the police have been unable to trace the child.

The boy’s mother has filed a police complaint and is on the lookout for her son.

Prem, son of Brajesh Yadav and Premlata, has been missing since 10am on Saturday. The boy’s parents alleged that the infant was last seen with a neighbour.

While Premlata is a homemaker, her husband Brajesh works in a private company in Greater Noida and they live in a rented accommodation in Mahamedha Colony of Surajpur. The parents alleged that their neighbour, Neelam, was seen last with their child.

“I was washing clothes on Saturday morning and my son Prem was playing outside when my neighbour Neelam visited the house and took Prem into her arms to cuddle him. She used to frequent our residence in Mahamedha Colony so I trusted her,” said Premlata.

According to her, Neelam took Prem with her on the pretext of buying him a cold drink and then fled with him.

Alarmed by the boy’s absence, the parents lodged a complaint at the Surajpur Police station at 3pm on Saturday and named Neelam as the primary accused.

According to them, Neelam is married to one Pradeep and the couple hails from Farrukhabad. Both Neelam and Pradeep are untraceable since Saturday morning.

The police have lodged an FIR under Section 363 of the IPC, for the abduction of a minor.

The police formed a team to trace the missing child. “We have already dispatched a team to Farrukhabad to trace the missing child and the woman. We are treading carefully as we do not want to create unnecessary alarm and spook the abductors. They might end up doing something irrational in panic. Our priority is the safety of the child,” said Manish Saxena, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
