Noida Sector 137 residents demand traffic signal in area

According to residents, multiple meetings with authority officials have not yielded results

Despite repeated reminders to Noida authority, residents of Exotica Fresco in Sector 137 are yet to get a traffic signal near their society. They said their lives are at risk in the absence of a signal as they have to cross the road near their homes amid a lot of traffic from Noida and Greater Noida.

According to the residents, they have held a number of meetings with authority officials, but have only got assurances. In their letters addressed to authority officials, they claimed that accidents take place at the spot every week.

RP Singh, project manager, Noida authority, confirmed that they have received the letters from the residents demanding setting up of a traffic signal.

Residents have demanded the traffic signal at the intersection near the Panchsheel Balak Inter College. As many as 10,000 people living in the eight housing societies of Sector 137 such as Exotica Fresco, Paramount Flooraville, Gulshan Vivante, Ajnara Daffodil, Paras Tierea, Purvanchal Royal Park and others use this intersection to take the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The intersection is situated on the service road leading to Greater Noida and runs parallel to expressway.

“We recently forwarded a complaint to the grievance cell of the Noida authority too, but there is no work on the ground. Despite giving them facts and figures, no one from the authority has ever visited the spot,“ said Pramod Singh Taragi, a complainant.

The head of the Noida authority’s traffic cell, Sandeep Chandra, was not available for comment. However, another official of the cell said, “We have started the process of installing the traffic signal, which will take a month. The installation itself doesn’t require a lot of time, but we have to issue tenders. The engineers have already conducted a survey and we understand the necessity of a traffic signal at the site.”
