An electronics trader in Noida was allegedly duped of Rs1.97 lakh by a car loan agent using a ‘magic pen’ with disappearing ink on a cheque to get his signature.

According to police, trader Naveen Prakash was approached by an agent Manish to supposedly provide him an instant car loan. In the process, Manish got him to fill up various forms and tricked him by using a ‘magic pen’ on a cancelled cheque required for processing the loan.
“One has to submit a cancelled cheque to loan providers. Manish used a magic pen with disappearing ink to cancel the cheque in front of Naveen and later withdrew Rs1.97 lakh using the same cheque. Once the slashes on cheque with the words ‘cancelled’ vanished, it was as good as a fresh cheque,” a police official said.
The Phase III police in Noida registered an FIR and is investigating into the matter.
