Noida traffic police conducts awareness drive for auto, cab drivers

The traffic police talked to drivers about various traffic rules and norms for their vehicles

The traffic police on Sunday conducted a drive to create awareness among drivers of cabs, autorickshaws and e-rickshaws about road safety and traffic rules. As part of the drive, traffic police personnel gave a demonstration to around 250 drivers.

The drive was part of a traffic campaign from April 22-30 held on the directions of Uttar Pradesh police chief. The campaign aimed to create awareness about traffic rules among drivers and commuters.

During the campaign, traffic police personnel were also given training by their seniors on streamlining vehicular movement during rush hours.

Sunday’s drive, which began at 9am and concluded at 11:30am, was held at Gole Chakar near Sector 15 metro station, Botanical Garden, Sector 37, City Centre and Model Town in Sector 62. Drivers of public transport vehicles were made aware about norms by traffic inspector Layak Singh. They were told not to use earphones while driving and ferrying passengers and about the importance of carrying vehicle insurance documents and driving licence with them.

Traffic inspector Singh said the drive will go a long way in improving the traffic situation in Noida. Traffic snarls are often caused at important and busy junctions in the city due to irregular parking, stoppages and flouting of traffic rules.

The traffic police also imposed fine of Rs18,400 on 103 people for various offences such as driving without a seat belt, not wearing helmets, wrong-side driving, unauthorised parking, and using tinted window glass.
