While the extraordinary designs and innovative products of the auto giants got ample attention at the 12th edition of Auto Expo at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, the young students too managed to have their moment in the sun by flaunting their unique creations.

With a 600 cc Honda CBR engine, a group of students from IIT Delhi created their own version of the Formula 1. The car is yet to make its debut in Germany this year.

Explaining the specialty of their creation, Rahul Gaur, one of the students, said, “We paid a lot of emphasis on making the car light so that it can gain some extra speed. Also, with the engine of our choice, the car can run to a maximum speed of 110 km/h. But unfortunately Indian students lack sponsorship. If we can get more sponsors we can use carbon fiber body which can make the car at least 30 per cent lighter and much faster and safer”

Not only racing cars but innovative designs by students also attracted many industry experts. Student of National Institute of Design exhibited their innovative designs for cars and motorbikes. “With customer demanding more than a good engine of a car designing has become very important. We imaging different characters and market needs and starts with sketching our ideas and finally a full scaled model is made. The auto expo gives us a platform to get direct feedback from the industry. Many of our seniors got placed in leading automobile companies because of their inimitable creations,” said Vijay Krishnan of NID.
