Wristwatches, perfumes, empty liquor bottle found during inspection at Noida shelter home

The UP women’s commission led a team of police officials and conducted the inspection of a shelter home run by the Sai Kripa Child Care Trust in Noida.

The state women’s commission has initiated an inquiry into Sai Kripa Child Care Trust after a team inspected the Bal Kutir shelter home in Sector 12, Noida, on Wednesday and found a few ‘expensive’ commodities in the rooms and discrepancies in documents.

The inspection took place in the morning hours when Sushma Singh, vice-chairperson of the state women commission led a team of police officers to conduct an inspection of the child care centre.

“We found a few expensive gadgets, wristwatches and perfumes with the girls at the centre which could not be accounted for. We also found six to seven rooms in the shelter filled with food commodities, clothes and other essentials for which the NGO was not able to produce any account. A few of the food items turned out to be expired and we also found an empty liquor bottle there,” Singh said.

Taking cognizance of the findings, Singh has initiated an inquiry into the workings of the NGO.

The child care shelter was formed 30 years ago by Anjana Rajgopal. It currently houses 29 girls and 22 boys.

Rajgopal said, “The items recovered by the commission during the inspection were given to us as donations. We do not accept clothes as donations. We have presented all our documents before the commission and the district administration for an audit. All our children go to schools.”
