WWE Live India: Triple H beats Jinder Mahal but fans the real winners of the night

Jinder Mahal was defeated by the veteran Triple in the main event of WWE Live India but there was hardly anyone who was not on their feet when the show ended.

From the chilling entrance of Bray Wyatt to the legendary water spray of Triple H, all the familiar tropes were on display as the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) India live show took place in New Delhi on Saturday.

The crowd was hooked to the action from the very first minute and although the former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal was defeated by the veteran Triple H in the main event, there was hardly anyone at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium who was not on their feet when the show ended.

The much-publicised main event really tested the crowd’s loyalty. In any other situation, one would think that the Indian-origin Jinder will be a clear favourite. But Triple H’s star power was too much for the crowd to overlook and it was his experience that ultimately handed him the victory.

Triple H was quite impressed by Jinder’s resilience in front of his home crowd and after the match, he congratulated the Indo-Canadian wrestler for his effort and said that he has finally earned his respect.

“It was a tough fight and Jinder (Mahal) gave it his all. At the end of the day, the only thing I want to say that he has earned my respect,” Triple H said to a rousing ovation from the packed audience.

In the other big matches of the day, the trio of Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins - collectively known as The Shield - were victorious over Samoa Joe, Cesaro and Sheamus while Braun Braun Strowman defeated Kane via disqualification. Alexa Bliss retained her RAW women’s title against Sasha Banks while local boys Jeet Rama and Kishan Raftar registered a win over the team of Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas.

The matches were far away from being classics and the existing storylines were hardly followed, but the crowd did not care about that. Every move received huge reactions from the almost capacity crowd and when it comes to showing their love for pro-wrestling, the audience were indeed the star performers of the night.
