Back-to-back IPL crowns for RCB, putting a cap on a season which has seen them be the most successful, most dominant, most comfortable team in the league all year! The confidence pays dividends as the bowling curtails GT to 155, before Virat Kohli’s brilliant 75* guides the chase to help the team join a very special group of teams to manage to defend their title.(AP Photo)

Early in the game, RCB had the first call go their way as they opted to bowl. Wickets of the openers were always going to be key against a GT team which is dependent on runs from the top order – and that’s exactly what Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided, removing Gill and Sudharsan respectively to swing the needle in RCB’s favour early.(PTI)

From there, the squeeze was on. The odd wicket kept falling – the most important of these being Jos Buttler, who took time to restructure the innings but then fell to a brilliant Krunal Pandya as soon as he tried to begin his attack.(PTI)

RCB’s bowling leader on the night was Rasikh Salam Dar – perhaps the least-touted of the star RCB pace unit, but one who has come into his own this year. On the night in Ahmedabad, he took three wickets, but the majority of the RCB bowling chipped in to ensure that GT always looked well short of any competitive total.(PTI)

Washington Sundar was the one player who could stick through, scoring 50*. However, even that was only enough to take GT to 155/8 – never enough against a team with the batting riches of RCB.(ANI Pic Service)
