China Floods: Death toll reaches 33, thousands evacuated from Henan province
The death toll in central China's unprecedented flash floods has reached 33 with eight people missing. A day after the worst floods, officials raced to evacuate patients as hospitals were flooded by rainstorms, state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.
The torrential rain has affected about three million people in Henan province and a total of 376,000 local residents have been relocated to safe places, the provincial emergency management department said. (AP/PTI)

Tribals and farmers affected by the Ken-Betwa river-linking project stage a symbolic Chita Andolan (pyre protests), Jal Satyagraha and hanging satyagraha by placing nooses around their necks, over their demands of better compensation and rehabilitation, in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. New Delhi woke up to light rain, drizzle and breezy conditions on Friday morning, with the weather department issuing a yellow alert for the day. The alert signalled the possibility of moderate weather disruptions and urged residents to stay cautious.
