National Capital hosts Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2022 after gap of 2 years
29 elite runners and several amateurs joined The Delhi Half Marathon which was held in Delhi on October 16. Haile Gebrselassie, one of the greatest distance runners in history, is the International Event Ambassador at the Delhi Half Marathon 2022.
The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon which was conducted in Delhi on Sunday, October 16 was flagged from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Chala Regasa of Ethiopia and Irine Cheptai of Kenya won the men's and women's elite races respectively.(PTI)

Regasa won the race with a time of 1 hour 30 seconds, while Cheptai came up with a personal best of 1:06:42 to top the women's event.(AFP)

India's steeplechase runner Avinash Sable won the Indian men's elite race by just 0.04 seconds ahead of Kartik Kumar and Srinu Bugatha.(PTI)
On the eve of the marathon, Sable said that prize money for long-distance running competitions should be raised to promote the sport in India.(PTI)

The Indian women elite race was won by Sanjivani Yadav who clocked 1:17:53. Monika Athara and Priti Lamba were second and third with 1:18:39 and 1:19:06.(PTI)

Tribals and farmers affected by the Ken-Betwa river-linking project stage a symbolic Chita Andolan (pyre protests), Jal Satyagraha and hanging satyagraha by placing nooses around their necks, over their demands of better compensation and rehabilitation, in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The 15-day protest ended after police removed them from site.
