People residing in low-lying areas near the banks of the river Yamuna in Delhi are being relocated to higher grounds as the water mark has reached much above the danger mark of 205.33 metres.(PTI)

East Delhi District Magistrate Anil Banka said the evacuation alert was issued Tuesday morning after the water level crosses the 206-metre mark.(PTI)

Announcements are being made to caution people about a further increase in the water level, Anil Banka said.(PTI)

The low-lying areas near the river in Delhi, which is home to around 37,000 people, are considered vulnerable to flooding.(PTI)

This is the second time within two months that the authorities are evacuating the people living in the river floodplains due to flooding in the low-lying areas.(PTI)
