PM Modi pays tribute to tribal leader Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary
Birsa Munda was born in the tribal belt of the undivided Bihar in 1875. The leader rallied tribals against the British colonial rule and conversion activities and died in 1900 in Ranchi jail.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Amar Shaheed Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh and other leaders paid tribute to the tribal freedom fighter at the Parliament premises.(PTI)

Tribals and farmers affected by the Ken-Betwa river-linking project stage a symbolic Chita Andolan (pyre protests), Jal Satyagraha and hanging satyagraha by placing nooses around their necks, over their demands of better compensation and rehabilitation, in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.
