Three men were arrested by the Paud police, with the help of their Pimpri colleagues, for the murder of a man from Pimprigaon. The main accused is suspected to have hatched the plan after he learned that the deceased was helping a minor girl, who had filed a sexual assault case against him. The accused had also served time in jail for the sexual assault.
While two men, including the main accused, were arrested on July 21, their accomplice was arrested late on Tuesday night. "The Pimpri police helped us find them all. The first two were arrested four days ago and were remanded in police custody till July 27," said Anirudh Gije, police sub-inspector (PSI) of Paud police station, under Pune rural police jurisdiction. Gije is investigating the case.
The three arrested were identified as Tarun Bipin Taak, 20; Jatin Mukesh Mewati, 19; and Vijay Hukme Taak, 27, according to the police. The case was registered after the body of a 20-year-old from Pimprigaon was found atop a hillock in Nandegaon.
The deceased was identified as Aditya Khot, 20, who was a resident of Shinde Ali in Pimprigaon, and worked as a mechanic in Pune railway division. He was reported missing by his family members on July 18, two days before his body was found in Nandegaon.
All the arrested were known to the deceased and had called him to a riverbank in Chinchwad to celebrate Mewati's birthday. The main accused, Taun Taak, was arrested in a case of sexual assault of a minor girl in 2017, registered at Chinchwad police station. After serving time in jail for the crime, he learned that Khot had been helping the girl financially, according to the first information report in the case. While the police are on the lookout for one other person, the accused arrested on Tuesday night will be produced in a local court on Wednesday.

A case against four men was registered at Paud police station under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on a complaint lodged by the deceased man's uncle, who is also a resident of Pimprigaon.
