The city development committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has directed the civic administration to initiate the process of drafting development plan (DP) for the 11 villages that were recently added into the civic body’s limits.
The committee has also asked civic authorities to appoint a town planning officer and submit a letter of intent to PMC along with the submission of the proposed land use document by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) within 15 days.
Sushil Mengde, president of the city development committee, said, “Regularising construction and development in the 11 villages is a must. Illegal constructions in the villages are on the rise. Moreover, PMC is not generating the expected revenue from these villages.”
Considering all of these pressing concerns, a development plan is necessary, added Mengde.
Lohegaon, Shivane (Uttamnagar), Mundwa (remaining parts of Keshavnagar), Hadapsar (Sadesataranali), Shivane, Ambegaon (Khurda), Ambegaon (Budruk), Undri and Dhayari are now within PMC limits. Residents from merged villages have been complaining about the lack of basic civic amenities.
Meanwhile, PMRDA has already initiated the process of acting against illegal constructions under its jurisdiction by serving notices to 10,938 structures. According to officials, there are a total of 16,938 illegal constructions within PMRDA limits, and 5,000 are from the newly merged villages.
