The recent incident involving question paper leak at a college affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) continues to be in the shadows as the varsity has failed to find the person(s) responsible for the crime.
Despite the lack of development on the university’s front, the concerned college, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Kothrud, has now lodged a police complaint.
The question paper of first year engineering mechanics was rumoured to have leaked on Wednesday morning, however, after a detailed probe, the university declared it to be a hoax.
According to the university officials, the first year of mechanical engineering batch had appeared for the subject, engineering mechanics, from 10 am to 12 pm.
The question papers for the same had arrived at the centre in MIT, Kothrud, at 9:40 am and after distribution at 10 am, they were said to have been posted online by unknown individual(s), making it viral. However, the university denies acknowledging this as a leak.
As per regulations under the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016, in such cases, the concerned college has to step up and lodge an official police complaint against the miscreants to set the investigation in motion, and the college has exactly done that; it is awaiting further intimation from the varsity, informed an MIT official, requesting anonymity.

“The matter is still under probe and we are doing our best to find out the people behind this. However, this would not mean any problem for the students, as technically there was no leak before the test. With the police complaint in place, we hope to track down the details of the case, very soon,” said Ashok Chavan, controller of examinations, SPPU.
