The Talegaon Dabhade police have lodged a first information report (FIR) against the family of Priyanka Santosh Shete, including cousins, for allegedly threatening the 19-year-old second year law student at gunpoint. The family also threatened to kill her boyfriend Viraj Mohan Avghade (19).

The three cousins are identified as Dattratreya Bandu Shete, Sampat Dnyaneshwar Shete and Ravi Nivrutti Shete, residents of Navlakh Umbre in Maval tehsil of Pune district.

Priyanka lodged an FIR at Talegaon Dabhade complaining about the impending threats to her life and Avghade.

Shete in her FIR mentioned that her family, mainly the cousins, have been threatening to kill her as she wants to get married to a person who belongs to lower caste. The Talegaon Dabhade police have registered the FIR under several sections of the Indian Penal Code comprising wrongful confinement, assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
