Following a decision by the state government, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will allow city residents to apply to regularise their illegal residential constructions from January 22, for a period of six months.
Under the amnesty scheme, illegal constructions which were built before December 31, 2015, and homes other than slum areas would have the chance to be regularised as per the state government’s decision on October 7, 2017, announced by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Mayor Mukta Tilak and city engineer Prashant Waghmare on Friday announced the details of the scheme. Waghmare stressed that applications would be accepted for the next six months only.
Civic bodies have been faced with thousands of violations involving residential constructions, where basic rules of floor space index, side margin and parking space width have been flouted. The Pimpri-Chinchwad township has 78,000 homes with such violations.
Waghmare said that the applications and proposals for regularisation can be filed online on the PMC website, punecorporation.gov.in
Residents who have constructed beyond permission granted; converted parking into residential areas; and those who have not followed the front, back and side margin rules would be given an opportunity to regularise the constructions under the amnesty scheme by paying the necessary fines to the municipal corporation.

{{/usCountry}}The regularisation proposals have to be submitted through architects and licenced engineers. After receiving the applications, the PMC will undertake inspections to initiate the regularisation.
“The drive will help the civic administration arrive at an estimate of illegal constructions in the city,” Waghmare said.
