The Wanowrie police have booked Ashpaque Rashid Shaikh (35), a resident of Satara and his mother, for allegedly driving his wife Nafeesa, to commit suicide on February 24. The mother-son duo, allegedly forced the victim to consume poison at their residence in Sayyednagar. The victim’s brother Abdul Mukadam, who is also a resident of Satara, filed the complaint against the accused at Wanowrie police station. According to the complainant, Shaikh who was married to Nafeesa since 2009, had been harassing her for money. The police are yet to make arrests in the matter.

Snake bite kills four-year-old in Pune
A four-year-old boy died after being bitten by a snake in Pimpri on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Apurva Rathod, was playing when the incident took place. The boy was bitten by the snake when he went to retrieve a ball, that had fallen down a hole. The victim dropped unconscious and was taken to the hospital, where he passed away before the hospital staff could administer first aid.
Transgender found murdered
A transgender man was found murdered in a building in Mohammadwadi on Monday morning. The victim, identified as Arbaz Shaikh, was found with his neck slit. His remains were recovered from a flat located in Undri-Mohammadwadi, along the Handewadi road. The body has been sent to Sassoon general hospital for post-mortem. Arrests in the case are yet to be made.
