While the University of Mumbai (MU) has been delaying the declaration of their results, Pune University has gone way ahead with declaring over 80 results in a period of two months.
A total of 116 examinations had been conducted under the aegis of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), out of which, 89 of them have already been declared. As per the university report, results of 35 subjects had been declared within a month.
Results for first-year engineering subjects were declared within a month in Pune University. However, the results of second, third and fourth year engineering students are expected to be out before July 20, said Ashok Chavan, controller of examinations, SPPU.
“We are yet to declare results of 20 to 25 subjects which will be out well within the bracket of 30 days, by July 20,” Chavan added.
As per the examination board guidelines, open universities have a deadline of 45 days after the examination, to declare their results, but Mumbai University has failed to meet the deadline. As opposed to Savitribai Phule Pune University which has declared 44 results in 45 days, officials claim.

Authorities have, therefore, been asked to intervene and declare the remaining results.

{{/usCountry}}A new system had been introduced, under which the university was to use On-Screen Marking (OSM), to check papers after scanning them, while they are displayed on the computer screen. Examiners are to correct and mark the papers on the computer screens and then upload the results on a common digital platform. The new mechanism has caused the delay, as many colleges complained about the lack on clarity in the procedure.
“In the initial stages even Pune University had been facing difficulties in the implementation of the digital marking system. But we are fluent now. We have been efficiently following this for the past four to five academic cycles,” Ashok Chavan said.
However, results for post-graduation, B Com courses at MU are yet to be declared and is expected in the next few days. While the results for Arts subjects and M Com are to be delayed. The intervention of the authorities has sped up the procedure, and they are expected within 14 days now.
