10 cartons of illicit liquor seized, two held

The CIA staff-2 of the local police commissionerate arrested two persons after recovering 10 cartons of illicit liquor from their possession near the civil hospital on Saturday. The accused, Sonu and Ashwani, were transporting the liquor in a Hyundai Santro car that the police impounded.

CIA-2 incharge sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar said the duo was involved in smuggling of liquor for the past many years and was wanted by the police. Ashwani was facing trial in three separate cases, he added.

He claimed that the accused confessed to have bought the liquor from Mandi Ahmedgarh and were on the way to sell it among alcoholics.

A case under section 61-1-14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the accused at Division Number 2 police station.
