Demanding easy visa norms between the two neighbouring countries, a 100-member delegation of businessmen under the banner of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Friday left for Pakistan.
The trip has been organised in partnership with the union ministry of commerce and industry.
The delegation which left for participating in ‘India Show’, a three-day event to be held in Lahore, was led by Jyotsna Suri, senior vice-president of FICCI and chairman and managing director (CMD) of Lalit Suri Hospitality Group.
“The idea is to promote trade and bilateral ties. There is tremendous potential between business communities of both the countries and it is the need of the hour to utilise the potential properly,” Suri said while talking to mediapersons before leaving for Pakistan.
“It is very important that we have better ties and for that visa norms are relaxed. There are lots of commodities that can be sold across the border. Even Tourism is a great avenue,” she said.
The India show, aiming to showcase the best of India in the 21st century, is also a conscious effort to build on the success of the first show when most of the Indian exhibitors had exhausted their goods in the first few days of the opening in Pakistan, which was held in February 2012 in Lahore.
