The decision, taken on October 28, also allows structures before raised before April 1, 2013, to apply for regularisation. Pending cases of those who filed application last year will also be sorted out.

Owners and colonizers would have to attach a copy of Google Map, along with the regularisation application, and other documents so that the precise status of roads and lanes near these colonies could be assessed.

Residents of these colonies and structures would be able to get all basic amenities including legal water and sewerage connection from the municipal corporation. Getting electricity connection would also become easy for dwellers of all unauthorised colonies.

For plots and building owners, the charges for regularisation will be imposed on owners, while colonisers will have to pay a penalty given the name of composition fee. This fee varies across buildings with the chief criteria being location, as in whether they that fall within and outside the MC limit.

THE AMENDMENT
· Under the provision of Punjab laws (special provisions) ordinance 2014, a notification has been marked to the civic body to begin with the procedure of the regularisation with effect from October 28
· The no-objection certificate, along with a regularisation certificate, will be issued within 30 days of the deposit of complete fee
· Separate rate slabs have been decided for regularisation of residential and commercial plots
