Police caught him within 24 hours of the crime committed at Ralla village of Mansa district. The victim, Chota Singh (65), had murdered Jarnail's father, Harmel Singh, in 1976.
In a case registered at Bhikhi police station in Mansa district, Chota's father, Dina Singh, was executed.
Almost 25 years ago, Chota Singh had come out of jail after life imprisonment and returned to Ralla. His father, Dina Singh, who worked on the farm of Harmel Singh, and he had killed the man over some argument. "Jarnail Singh waited many years to have his revenge," senior superintendent of police Narinder Bhargav said here on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, when Chota Singh was on his way home from field, Jarnail Singh reminded him of his crime and told him how long he had waited to get even, the police have said. "Jarnail hit Chota Singh on the head with a large axe, killing him on the spot," said SSP Bhargav.
"We arrested Jarnail from Jhidi Baba Jogi Peer at Ralla village. The murder case has been lodged at Joga," the SSP added.
