Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak on Friday filed criminal defamation complaints against the party’s Delhi MLA Devinder Sehrawat, who has alleged that they exploited women in Punjab by promising poll tickets; former AAP leader Hardip Singh Kingra, and AAP national council member Pavittar Singh and his wife Lakhwinder Kaur.

Sanjay, party’s state affairs in-charge, and Pathak, the national organisation-building head, reached around 11.30 am and submitted their complaints at the local chief judicial magistrate’s court.

Against Sehrawat, they said that the MLA is damaging their image and also defaming the AAP at the behest of opposition parties. They slammed him for writing to AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with the allegations.

As for Kingra, Sanjay said he desired a poll ticket from Faridkot constituency that was denied, upon which he resigned. Then, in a press conference in Chandigarh on September 1, he alleged that a member of the party’s fundraising committee, Surinder Singh Arora, had collected Rs 6 lakh but only deposited Rs 1 lakh to the party account after giving Rs 5 lakh to him (Sanjay).

Further, a complaint denied allegations that they had asked Pavittar and his wife Lakhwinder for Rs 50 lakh to give the party ticket to the latter from Phillaur. Sanjay and Pathak have denied any such meeting took place.

Hearing has been scheduled for October 1.
