Accused held for rape attempt on 2-yr-old is a minor: Report
The ossification report of the accused, arrested for slitting the throat of a two-year-old girl after attempting rape on her, has ascertained that he is a minor.

The report that reached the Division Number 5 police station revealed that his age is between 12 and 15 years.
The police will produce the report in the court during resumed hearing of the case on March 28. The accused has been lodged at Faridkot juvenile home on judicial remand.
Earlier, kin of the victim had raised questions over the age of accused and claimed that he was not a juvenile. They stated that the accused was an adult, but he had been claiming himself to be minor to take legal advantage in the case.
Following the allegations, the police had moved an application before the court on March 16, seeking permission for conducting ossification test to know his age. The court had then accepted the plea and given nod for the test. On March 18, the police took him for test from Faridkot juvenile home. A board of doctors had conducted the test.
Division Number 5 Beant Juneja said, “Doctors who conducted bone ossification test on the accused said that the accused is between 12 and 15 years of age. The accused was claiming that his age is 14 years.”
Meanwhile, the victim admitted at Deep Hospital, Ludhiana, has been recovering.
The accused had allegedly attempted murder bid on the two-year-old girl in Railway Colony near Inter State Bus Terminal after attempting rape on her on March 14. After slitting her throat with a kitchen knife, the accused locked her in an abandoned room and fled. Later, he was arrested by the police.
