Fearing that the Akalis might use Ambulance-108 to haul cash and liquor to voters in the last two days before polling, the Punjab Youth Congress has asked the election commission to keep a close watch on them.
State Youth Congress president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary has also asked deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal why his government can't bring the price of petrol on a par with the rate in the neighbouring states, where this fuel is almost Rs 7 cheaper.
During an electronic voting machine (EVM) demonstration at Sadhan Wal Basti in Moga on Wednesday, Chaudhary questioned Sukhbir's claims of the development of Moga. "Sukhbir has to come out with an honest answer to what his government has done for the masses in the last tenure," said the PYC president. "He also should tell people how he passed off the Centre's pro-poor projects as state's. He took credit for the job-guarantee plan, Nartional Rural Health Mission (NRHM), roads and infrastructure, scholarships and old-age pension, and now direct cash transfer.”
Since the union government now transferred all the subsidy directly on the basis of Aadhaar card into the personal accounts of people, Sukhbir's lies would be exposed in another few months. "The akalis' base and sordid modus operandi of seeking votes in election has brought the edifice of democratic setup to a crumbling point," Chaudhary said.

"If Sukbir is so confident of winning the election, why has he his entire bandwagon of ministers camping in Moga and why is he torturing his old, ailing chief minister?” he said.
