The robbers decamped with a Bolero SUV, a rifle, jewellery, one mobile phone and Rs 22,000 cash from their residence.

The couple, in their sixties, suffered minor injuries as the accused allegedly thrashed them while forcing them into a room. The couple has been living alone at the house and their two sons live in Dubai.

Giving information about the incident, victim Sukhdev Singh said he and his wife, Naseeb Kaur, have been living in the house alone for the past 10 years.

“Last night (Tuesday), I was sleeping in the lobby and my wife was in the room when some armed robbers barged in and held us captive in a room,” he said.

He said, “The robbers flaunted sharp-edged weapons and snatched keys of the almirah from us and took away a rifle, foreign currency, jewellery and a mobile phone besides a Bolero car parked in the garage.”
