With minimum temperature falling by 2.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the city is expected to witness colder mornings with moderate fog and cloudy evenings over the next few days.

Going by the forecast of the local meteorological centre, the temperature is likely to fall further by around 2 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Centre director Surinder Paul said, “More chilly days are expected ahead as the minimum temperature will go down by approximately 3-4 degrees Celsius on December 24 and 25. Although it will be a clear day on Christmas, clouds may appear in the evening.”

He, however, ruled out the possibility of rain during the week. “Snowfall in the higher ridges of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the Christmas will bring the temperature down in the city,” he said. Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded to be 19.1 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees below recorded on Tuesday; while the minimum temperature was 5.6 degree Celsius, a slide of two notches as compared to Tuesday. The maximum relative humidity (RH) on Wednesday was recorded at 94% and minimum at 41%.

As per the officials, the minimum temperature on Thursday is likely to be 6 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature would be 20 degree Celsius.
