Badal is scheduled to address a political rally organised by local MLA and deputy speaker Dinesh Singh Babbu and national executive member Swaran Salaria.

Badal is then expected to meet Bhoa MLA Seema Devi, who has invited him to apprise him of the demands of border residents near Parmanand village.

Salaria, a native of Gurdaspur village, is the frontrunner for getting a Lok Sabha poll ticket from the BJP and was active in this belt before the assembly elections earlier this year.

Sujanpur leaders would inform Badal about the need for a stadium and a government college in Manwal village, besides solving the problems of the Damoustees and those running kiosks on the land allotted for Ranjit Sagar Dam Project.

"The border areas of Gurdaspur desperately need the chief minister's help," Seema Kumari said. "We hope he declares a package for these areas."

Kumari, along with Salaria, has been visiting these areas for a week to know the problems of the residents. "We will seek a gateway to Pakistan similar to a gate on the Wagah border to encourage business and tourism," said Salaria.

Asked about his imminent move to SAD, Sharma said he was an admirer of Sukhbir and his policies, but refused to divulge details about joining the party.
