A newly married woman died under mysterious circumstances at her house near Bahia Fort on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, the victim's parents alleged that their daughter was murdered by her in-laws.
The victim Geeta Rani got married to Amit Kumar in June last year and was five months pregnant.
Victim's father Hukm Chand a resident of Jaito Mandi alleged that ever since his daughter got married, her in-laws used to harass her for more dowry and in December last year they sent her back home demanding a washing machine and it was only after they gave them a washing machine that they allowed her to come back inside their home.
"On Sunday evening someone from the locality called me and told us about our daughter's death. The in-laws have murdered her by giving some poisonous substance," he alleged.
A panel of three doctors conducted the post-mortem of the body on Monday. SHO, Kotwali police station, Manoj Kumar said that the police would take the investigations further after the post-mortem report arrives.
