A Class-8 girl, 15, of Kapoore village in Moga district was kidnapped on Monday. Her father, a labourer, has told the senior superintendent of police that she had been abducted by a man who could compel her for marriage.

The labourer was at work and his wife at her parents' during the incident. Only the couple's minor children were at home. Assistant sub-inspector Major Singh of the Mehna police station confirmed rounding up of some young men for investigation and the constitution of a special team to hunt down the culprit.
