Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) authorities in a release issued on Friday appealed to the public to financially help an 11-year-old girl, Sharanpreet, suffering from a disease caused by the destruction of blood cells, for her treatment.
The girl was admitted to the hospital on May 21 and has been diagnosed to have hemolytic uremic syndrome with microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, sepsis and diffuse alveolar hemorrhage-anemia caused by destruction of red blood cells. She is currently on a regular hemodialysis and plasmapheresis.
The girl was admitted in ICU in a critical state and presently is shifted out of the ICU to the ward. In view of her disease, she would require a long-term plasmapheresis and hemodialysis till she becomes better.
According to the hospital, she has an outstanding bill of `4 lakh. Though many donors have come forward to contribute towards her treatment, she still needs further treatment which may be prolonged for several weeks.
Due to poor financial condition of her family, they have not been able to incur the medical expenses.
Her father is an agricultural laborer and earns a meagre salary of `5,000 a month. The family has requested everyone who wishes to help this daughter to send donations by cheques or demand drafts in favor of “CMC, Ludhiana Society”, for the treatment of Sharanpreet, Unit Number C-7517538, to Dr Timothy Rajamanickam, head, department of nephrology, Christian Medical College and hospital, Ludhiana - 141008.
