In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Dimpa pointed out that Bolaria used this solemn occasion to indulge in celebrations and merry-making while formally assuming charge of the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) of the Majha region.

Bolaria, Akali MLA from Amritsar South, was appointed president of the YAD of the Majha region by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal early this month. Separate chiefs of the YAD were also appointed for the Doaba and Malwa regions.

"Bolaria should have known better that martyrdom days and that too of the gurus, are not occasions to indulge in celebrations. While there was nothing wrong in assuming charge of the YAD, restraint should have been exercised and celebrations should not have been permitted", the Congress leader said.

The Congress leader also called upon the district administration to register a case against Bolaria and some of his supporters as they had hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs through such celebrations on a solemn occasion.
